Levels 1 and 2
Bob has over 35 years’ experience in ELT and teacher training in the UK, France and Spain. A firm believer in the communicative approach to language teaching, Bob, who has an MSc in Applied Linguistics from the University of Edinburgh, has been writing ELT materials since 2001. He is the author of several course books for Pearson including Success and Wider World. Married to a French-speaking Spaniard, he lives in a challenging, if occasionally confusing, trilingual environment. In his free time, he enjoys writing fiction, hill-walking and urban cycling.
Levels 1 and 2
Stuart is an English graduate of Manchester University and has 15 years’ experience teaching EFL and ESOL in the UK and abroad, most recently at the Lodz Teacher Training College in Poland. A Pearson author since 2003 – he is the co-author of four levels of Success (Beginner, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate and Advanced), two levels of Wider World (Elementary and Pre-Intermediate) and is currently working on Highlights (Pre-Intermediate). He lives in Abergavenny in Wales where he enjoys walking, writing and playing music.
Levels 3 and 4
Carolyn has written a number of Pearson course-books, including Gold Experience, Next Move, Move It! and the BESA award-winning Activate! A qualified English teacher (PGCE) and teacher trainer, Carolyn taught EFL in Greece and the UK before moving into EFL publishing, working as an educational consultant and editor for over 15 years. Her publishing background has given her the opportunity to work closely with teachers and students from many different countries and incorporate their concerns and values into her material. Carolyn’s special interest is motivating young teenagers, and she believes the strong video element in Wider World will enhance students’ learning experience.
Levels 3 and 4
Suzanne is a former language school owner in Spain and an experienced teacher. Now based in Oxford, she has been writing materials for Pearson since 2005 and has co-written numerous ELT titles including Activate!, Cosmic, Gold Experience and Wider World. Suzanne believes in maintaining a foothold in the classroom and also teaches in Oxford. She says it is the students who inspire her to write her own materials. More recently, Suzanne has taken on additional roles as a judge on a standardising panel for the Trinity ISE exam and as a member of the Educational Writers Group for the Society of Authors. She is also currently doing her MA Education (TESOL) and researching more imaginative ways to activate language learning in teens.
Kathryn has taught English in the UK, France and Greece. She has a degree in French from the University of Liverpool and holds the Cambridge DELTA. She has also been involved in teacher training and was a CELTA trainer at colleges of further education both in Birmingham and Bristol. She has been an examiner in the UK and has written a wide range of exam material over the last ten years as well as online teaching and learning material. Kathryn now lives in Gloucestershire with her husband and two children.
